Judiciary Exam Pattern
The criteria for selecting candidates for judiciary exams include three stages:
- Preliminary Examination: It comprises multiple-choice questions that differ from state to state. Only candidates who clear the preliminary examination are eligible for the second stage exam.
- Mains Examination: This is the second stage of the judiciary exam. It comprises descriptive questions. Almost every Indian state has three to four papers under the main exams: Criminal Law, Civil Law-I, Civil Law-II, and Language Paper.
- Interview: This is the final stage of the exam. The interview is based on general knowledge, aptitude, and personality tests.

Judiciary Exam Eligibility
- The age limit is between 21 to 42 years.
- The candidates must be LLB graduates. The applicants in their final year are also eligible to apply.
- No working experience as a lawyer is mandatory. However, the candidates must be enrolled as Advocates under the Advocates Act 1961.
- Experienced lawyers with 7 years of litigating practice are also eligible.
